Δεν έχει αξία οι Οικονομολόγοι να είμαστε απλως περιγραφικοί. Πρέπει να γίνουμε σκαπανείς στο ορυχείο των πρώτων υλών που τροφοδοτεί την Οικονομία. Και η πιο σπάνια πρώτη ύλη -που μετατρέπεται σε βασικό καύσιμο του καπιταλισμού- είναι η εργασία. Προσωπικά δεν θα κουραστώ να την προσεγγίζω ως ιερή έννοια, με την δέουσα προσοχή και με πολυπρισματική θεωρητική ευλάβεια, όσο και αν αυτό μοιάζει επανάληψη. Γιατί πίσω απο την έννοια της απασχόλησης κρύβεται ο ανθρώπινος μόχθος, ο ιδρώτας, η δημιουργικότητα του καθενός και της καθεμιάς.
Κρύβονται οι σχέσεις παραγωγής, οι κοινωνικές σχέσεις, οι σχέσεις εκμετάλλευσης. Με την πανδημία εθιστήκαμε στο να αποδεχόμαστε ως φυσιολογικό το να εργαζόμαστε λιγότερο. Να πληρωνόμαστε λιγότερο. Να παράγουμε λιγότερο. Να δημιουργούμε λιγότερο, αφού απλώς πατάμε πλήκτρα απο τον καναπέ μας, κάνουμε κλικαρίσματα και χειριζόμαστε λογισμικά, πλατφόρμες. Δικτυωθήκαμε και ξεχάσαμε ότι η δικτύωση γίνεται αποκλειστικά με μέσα παραγωγής : με ιδιωτικές- και όχι δημόσιες- μηχανές που πολύ απλά επιταχύνουν την παραγωγικότητα. Τα μέσα επικοινωνίας είναι κερδοσκοπικές μηχανές παραγωγής και εμείς είμαστε εργάτες που τις χειριζόμαστε -όπως κάνω αυτή την στιγμή και εγώ και εσείς. Και παράγουμε κέρδος στους ιδιοκτήτες αυτών των μηχανών με απλήρωτη εργασία που δημιουργεί τον άυλο χρυσό της εποχής: data( δεν υπήρξαν ποτέ μεγαλύτερες εφημερίδες και μεγαλύτερες διαφημιστικές από τα ίδια τα social media!) Τα πορίσματα όμως μιας παρατήρησης δεν είναι ισχυρά αν δεν τα περάσει κανείς απο την θεωρητική στάθμιση και το φίλτρο των στατιστικών δεδομένων.
Και στόχος του παρόντος κειμένου είναι να καταλήξω νοηματικά στα ισχυρά κοινωνικά υπομόχλια του βίου μας : τον μισθό, το εισόδημα, το κέρδος. Γι αυτό και χθες αναφέρθηκα στην συγκεκριμένη οικονομική πολιτική που ακολουθούν στις ΗΠΑ για να αναχαιτίσουν την ύφεση. Και δεν θα χρησιμοποιήσω μακροοικονομική ορολογία. Θα το πω απλά: οι Αμερικανοί εκδίδουν χρήμα για να ζήσει ο κόσμος – καταναλώνοντας εμπορεύματα, αγαθά, υπηρεσίες – και ταυτόχρονα ανοίγουν δουλειές σε μεγάλα δημόσια έργα για να δουλέψει ο άνεργος πληθυσμός. (σημ: αφήστε την γνωστή θεωρία για χρέος/πληθωρισμό/κατάρρευση.
Θα ασχοληθούμε άλλη φορά : όλα τα νομισματικοποιούν και δεν θα καταρρεύσουν: συνδυάζουν οικονομικά προσφοράς και ζήτησης). Επειδή όμως θέλουν να τονώσουν την αγοραστική δύναμη των πολιτών, διπλασιάζουν την κατώτατη ωριαία αμοιβή. Πηγές χρηματοδότησης εκτός απο το χρήμα που εκδίδουν ; Η φορολογία στα υπερκέρδη των ολιγοπωλίων. Αυτά γίνονται στην άλλη πλευρά του Ατλαντικού, εκτός και αν τους θεωρούμε ότι δεν συνειδητοποιούν τους κινδύνους του μέλλοντος. Εδώ στην ευρωζώνη, η συνεχής εσωτερική υποτίμηση σε οικονομίες σαν την δική μας, μονιμοποίησε το αναπόφευκτο : έπεσε η αξία της εργασίας μας (μισθός) αλλά τελικά δεν βελτιώθηκε η ανταγωνιστικότητα της παραγωγής. Και πώς να βελτιωθεί φυσικά όταν ο μισθός είναι ένας μόνο από τους συντελεστές κόστους για μια επιχείρηση. Και σήμερα, εποχή τηλεργασίας και υπερσυνδεσιμότητας των πάντων, είναι όμορφο να ακούμε οτι οι ραγδαίες τεχνολογικές εξελίξεις θα αλλάξουν την ζωή μας.
Η ερώτηση που οφείλουμε να κάνουμε είναι όμως απλή : πως τελικά, και πότε, θα αυξήσουν τα λεφτά στην τσέπη μας, εκτός απο το ότι θα αλλάξουν προς το καλύτερο την ζωή μας, το 5G, το G-cloud, το edge computing, και άλλα hi tech θαύματα των κολοσσών της Silicon Valley που θα επενδύσουν υποτίθεται δισεκατομμύρια σε μια χώρα σαν εμάς, κάνοντας την τεχνολογία πηγή κέρδους και όχι κόστους στις επιχειρήσεις ; Πως θα συμβεί αυτό αν παράλληλα, όση αύξηση απασχόλησης και αν προκληθεί, τελικά δεν αυξηθεί η αξία της ανθρώπινης εργασίας για τον προγραμματισμό και χειρισμό αυτών των τεχνολογιών αιχμής; Μήπως μπερδεύεστε ; Δεν είναι δύσκολη ούτε θεωρητική αυτή η απορία. Ούτε φυσικά θεωρώ κοινωνικά αναποτελεσματική την τωρινή βίαιη επιτάχυνση της 4ης βιομηχανικής επανάστασης και την τεχνολογική πρόοδο σε επιστήμες και παραγωγή. Μην συγχέετε μέσα σας το δυσεπίλυτο ερώτημα περί αντικατάστασης των θέσεων εργασίας απο λογισμικά, πλατφόρμες, και ρομποτικά αυτόματα. Μένω απλά στο ερώτημα που κρύβει η υλική υπόσταση της τεχνολογίας και της επικοινωνίας : το σύγχρονο εργοστάσιο, το διαδίκτυο, αυτό που μετακόμισε στο καθιστικό μας, βασίζεται στην χρήση των ιδιωτικών και όχι δημόσιων/δωρεάν μηχανών.
Στην διαχείριση της πληροφορίας που αυτές διακινούν, ως επιθυμητικές μηχανές. Και σε κάθε ανάδυση νέας πληροφορίας ενσωματώνεται προηγούμενη κοινωνική ιστορία παραγωγής, προηγούμενη εργασία δηλαδή. Απλήρωτη, εξ αποστάσεως, επισφαλής, ή έστω υποαμοιβόμενη. Ετσι ακριβώς καταφέρνει η τεχνολογία να κοινωνικοποιεί την εργασία. Μέσα απο το εμπόρευμα πληροφορία, που δεν τελειώνει με την απλή κατανάλωση του. Στο διαδίκτυο αυτό το εμπόρευμα ” μπορεί εύκολα να αντιγραφεί και να διανεμηθεί, έχει υψηλό κόστος παραγωγής και χαμηλό κόστος αντιγραφής” ( Fuchs). Mε αυτό το δεδομένο, η εμπορευματική πληροφοριακή οικονομία, αφού κουβαλάει εργασία, σημαίνει οτι παράγει για κάποιους κέρδος και υπεραξία, δηλαδή βοηθάει στην συσσώρευση κεφαλαίου.
Και για να μην κουράζω: το αόρατο και αθέατο μυστικό πίσω απο αυτή την συναρτησιακή οικονομική σχέση είναι το χαμηλό κόστος αντιγραφής της πληροφορίας. Δηλαδή η χρησιμοποίηση όλων ημών των χρηστών ως επιταχυντών πληροφορίας ( χρήστες και παραγωγοί δεδομένων) σχεδόν χωρίς αμοιβή. Αυτό το φαινόμενο, το ψευδαισθητικό φαινόμενο δωρεάν διαχείρισης δεδομένων/πληροφορίας/γνώσεων/επικοινωνίας, είναι που θα συνεχίσει να σπρώχνει τους μισθούς στις οικονομίες παρακάτω. Αυτό ξέρουν πολύ καλά στις ΗΠΑ ότι θα μειώσει τελικά την αγοραστική δύναμη του πολίτη, και θα ρίξει κατανάλωση και παραγωγικότητα.
Γι αυτό ποντάρουν στον αυξημένο μισθό. Εφαρμόζουν το πιο ισχυρό μυστικό της σκέψης του βιομήχανου Ford( αυτό που χάθηκε μέσα στην θεωρία του φορντισμού περί παραγωγής). Ηταν το 1914 -όπου κορυφώθηκε η παραγωγή των αυτοκινήτων απο εκατοντάδες χιλιάδες εργαζόμενους- ο Ford εξέπληξε την διεθνή aγορά με τον διπλασιασμό του ημερομισθίου και την καθιέρωση πενθήμερων εργασίας για το προσωπικό του. Τότε έπεσαν όλοι οι βιομήχανοι και οι τραπεζίτες πάνω του. Η απάντηση του ήταν αφοπλιστική:”…. Και που θα βρούν χρήμα και χρόνο να αγοράζουν τα αυτοκίνητα που παράγουν αυτοί οι ίδιοι;” Λέτε να ήταν σοσιαλιστής και αυτός ή κρυπτο-μαρξιστής που προέβλεψε πιθανή κρίση υποκατανάλωσης, υπερσυσσώρευσης και υπερπροσφοράς ;
