«Καμία UBER δεν μπορεί να λειτουργεί υπεράνω των νόμων. Ηδη η κυβέρνηση προέβη σε διακρίσεις εις βάρος των νησιών μας αφού με τις πολιτικές της και την ευνοϊκή μεταχείριση στην Κρήτη και στην Εύβοια, δείχνει την αδιαφορία της για τα νησιά του Νοτίου Αιγαίου. Ακόμα κι έτσι ωστόσο, εκ του νόμου οι οδηγοί της UBER είναι υποχρεωμένοι να αναλαμβάνουν διαδρομές που θα είναι κατ΄ελάχιστον μισής ώρας και με ελάχιστο τίμημα διαδρομής τα 36 ευρώ. Παραλλήλως οι οδηγοί που απασχολούνται από την UBER, θα πρέπει να κατέχουν πιστοποιητικό γλωσσομάθειας όπως απαιτείται και να πληρούν τις τυπικές προϋποθέσεις για να κατέχουν άδεια επαγγελματία οδηγού. Όπως καταγγέλλεται η UBER δεν τηρεί τις προβλεπόμενες διατάξεις με συνέπεια όχι μόνο η λειτουργία της στη Ρόδο να προκαλεί αθέμιτο ανταγωνισμό αλλά και να υποβαθμίζει το τουριστικό μας προϊόν. Ανεξαρτήτως, ωστόσο, των παραπάνω οι συμπατριώτες μας θα πρέπει να επιδείξουν σύνεση και ψυχραιμία προκειμένου να μην απωλέσουν το δίκιο τους. Η αυτοδικία δεν είναι πράξη σύνεσης.
Αν η UBER παρανομεί υπάρχουν νόμοι και δικαστήρια που θα αποτρέψουν κάθε παρανομία. Στις δύσκολες στιγμές, η ψυχραιμία αποτελεί πάντα τον καλύτερο σύμβουλο. Αυτό βεβαίως δεν σημαίνει ότι δεν πρέπει να καταδικάσουμε την νεοφιλελεύθερη κυβέρνηση της ΝΔ έδειξε για ακόμα μια φορά και με την έλευση της πολυεθνικής εταιρείας UBER στη Ρόδο ότι ευνοεί τους λίγους ισχυρούς εις βάρος των πολλών, όπως προσφάτως έπραξε, μεταφέροντας την ευθύνη διαχείρισης των παραλιών οδηγώντας εκατοντάδες οικογένειες που ζουν από την εκμετάλλευση ομπρελών και καθισμάτων στις παραλίες είτε στην εξαθλίωση είτε στην υπαλληλοποίηση προς όφελος των μεγάλων οικονομικών συμφερόντων. Δεν είναι η πρώτη φορά που η κυβέρνηση της ΝΔ ευνοεί τα μεγάλα οικονομικά συμφέροντα, γι αυτό είναι απαραίτητο το ΠΑΣΟΚ να λάβει ισχυρή εντολή από την πρώτη Κυριακή για μια προοδευτική κυβέρνηση με σοσιαλδημοκρατικούς άξονες».
