Έφυγε από τη ζωή πριν από λίγη ώρα σε ηλικία 67 ετών ο Δημήτρης Τσοπανάκης, ύστερα από πολύμηνη μάχη με τον καρκίνο.
Ο Δημήτρης Τσοπανάκης ήταν ιδιαίτερα αγαπητός στην κοινωνία της Ρόδου με έντονη δραστηριότητα στην πολιτική, στον αθλητισμό και σε άλλους τομείς ενώ διετέλεσε εκδότης και διευθυντής της εφημερίδας «Ροδιακή» και της εφημερίδας «Γνώμη».
Γεννήθηκε στη Ρόδο το 1956. Αποφοίτησε από το Βενετόκλειο εξατάξιο Γυμνάσιο το 1974 και
φοίτησε στη Σχολή Δημοσιογραφίας Βαρώτση στη Θεσσαλονίκη την διετία 1974-76.
Εργάσθηκε σχεδόν σε όλες τις θέσεις των εφημερίδων «Η ΡΟΔΙΑΚΗ» (ημερήσια) και «ΓΝΩΜΗ» (εβδομαδιαία).
Παράλληλα ασχολήθηκε με τον αθλητισμό και διετέλεσε μέλος του διοικητικού συμβουλίου του ΑΣ
ΔΙΑΓΟΡΑΣ επί πολλά χρόνια.
Διετέλεσε μέλος του δ.σ. της Ένωσης Επαρχιακών Εφημερίδων Ελλάδος και της Ομοσπονδίας
Πετοσφαίρισης, καθώς επίσης και πρόεδρος των συλλόγων Γονέων και Κηδεμόνων Γυμνασίου και
Λυκείου.
Υπήρξε νομαρχιακός και περιφερειακός σύμβουλος.
Ήταν παντρεμένος με την Ελευθερία το γένος Χαζηπέτρου με την οποία απέκτησε τέσσερα παιδιά.
