Η Ρόδος θα βρεθεί και πάλι στον παγκόσμιο χάρτη της διοργάνωσης αθλητικών εκδηλώσεων. Αυτή τη
φορά διοργανώνεται το 2 ο σκακιστικό φεστιβάλ που θα διεξαχθεί από 15 έως 28 Οκτωβρίου και
περιλαμβάνει τρεις ξεχωριστές διοργανώσεις:
Παγκόσμιο πρωτάθλημα ερασιτεχνών 16 έως 26 Οκτωβρίου
Παγκόσμιο πρωτάθλημα σύνθεσης και λύσης σκακιστικών προβλημάτων 16 έως 23 Οκτωβρίου
Ολυμπιάδα σκακιού τυφλών 15 έως 28 Οκτωβρίου
Όλοι οι αγώνες θα λάβουν μέρος στο ξενοδοχείο Olymbic Palace στη Ρόδο και διοργανώνονται από τον
Σκακιστικό Όμιλο Ρόδου «ΙΠΠΟΤΗΣ» με συνδιοργανωτές την Περιφέρεια Νοτίου Αιγαίου, την ΕΣΟ
(Ελληνική Σκακιστική Ομοσπονδία) την ΙΒCA (International Braille Chess Association), την WFCC
(World Federation for Chess Composition) και τη FIDE (Federation International Des Eshecs).
Στους αγώνες έχουν δηλώσει συμμετοχή εκατοντάδες παίκτες και παίκτριες από 50 και πλέον χώρες,
γεγονός που δίνει αίγλη, φήμη και αναγνωρισιμότητα στο νησί της Ρόδου.
Ο εντεταλμένος στον αθλητισμό περιφερειακός σύμβουλος Νίκος Νικολής χαρακτήρισε την
διοργάνωση σπουδαία και αισιοδοξεί για την επιτυχία των αγώνων, αφού όπως τόνισε, έχουμε πλέον
την εμπειρία διοργάνωσης διεθνών αγώνων. Παράλληλα εύχεται στους συμμετέχοντες αθλητές καλή
επιτυχία και καλή διαμονή.
