Οι Νορβηγοί ήταν οι θριαμβευτές του 5 ου διεθνή
ποδηλατικού γύρου Ρόδου. Ο Tord Gudmestad κατέκτησε την
πρώτη θέση στο
«Rhodes Grand Prix powered by Mitsis Hotels» και ο
συμπατριώτης του Fredrik Dversnes (αμφότεροι
της Team Coop), πήρε το χρυσό μετάλλιο στο
«International Tour of Rhodes». Ο Κύπριος Ανδρέας Μιλτιάδης
της Εθνικής Κύπρου αναδείχθηκε King of the Mountains, ενώ
στην 29 η θέση της γενικής και πρώτος Έλληνας ήταν ο
Περικλής Ηλίας (Attica Regional Team).
Τους αγώνες διοργάνωσαν ο ποδηλατικός σύλλογος
«Ροδήλιος» και η Sports Tours Hellas με συνδιοργανωτές την
Περιφέρεια Νοτίου Αιγαίου, τον Δήμου Ρόδου (Δ.Ο.Π.Α.Ρ.),
ενώ είχαν την στήριξη του Επιμελητηρίου Δωδεκανήσου.
Μετείχαν συνολικά 167 ποδηλατές από 25 ομάδες από 18
διαφορετικές χώρες.
Τηρώντας πάντα το υγειονομικό πρωτόκολλο, παίρνοντας
τα απαραίτητα μέτρα ασφαλείας (υγειονομικά και οδικά), οι
διοργανωτές φρόντισαν ώστε αυτή η σπουδαία ποδηλατική
εβδομάδα στη Ρόδο να μείνει αξέχαστη σε όλους όσοι
συμμετείχαν σε αυτήν.
Η παρουσία στη Ρόδο του Υφυπουργού Αθλητισμού κ.
Λευτέρη Αυγενάκη και του Υφυπουργού Περιβάλλοντος και
Ενέργειας κ. Γιώργου Αμυρά, αποδεικνύουν τη μεγάλη σημασία
των διεθνών ποδηλατικών αγώνων. Το «παρών» έδωσε και ο
νέος πρόεδρος της Ε.Ο.Π. κ. Βασίλης Διαμαντόπουλος, όπως ο
ομόλογός του, της Κύπρου, κ. Γιώργος Γιώργου.
Σημαντικό ρόλο στη διοργάνωση έπαιξαν οι μεγάλοι
χορηγοί: Mitsis Hotels, Aegean Airline και Ιβίσκος Fine Food,
καθώς και οι
υποστηρικτές: Beyond Group, Rodos Cars, Blue Star, ΕΚΟ
Χατζημανώλης, Fidusa, Bioracer και Hedera. Ένα ξεχωριστό
«ευχαριστώ» ανήκει στην ομάδα Moto Marschalls, στο
Ε.Κ.Α.Β., στη γενική κλινική Euromedica, στην Τροχαία
Ρόδου και στον Ερυθρό Σταυρό, που φρόντισαν για την
ασφάλεια των αθλητών στους διεθνείς ποδηλατικούς γύρους.
