Από την ανάληψη των καθηκόντων της η Δημοτική αρχή, ήρθε αντιμέτωπη με το πολύ σοβαρό ζήτημα στο κρίσιμο τομέα της υγείας της έλλειψης ιατρού ειδικότητας, λαμβάνοντας υπόψη τις συγκυρίες που δημιουργήθηκαν από τις συνέπειες της πανδημίας απαιτούσαν από τον Δήμο μας άμεσες ενέργειες για το θέμα της υποστελέχωσης του Π.Π Ιατρείο Κάσου.
Μετά από συνεχείς οχλήσεις στο αρμόδιο υπουργείο αλλά και την παροχή επιπλέον οικονομικών κινήτρων εξασφαλίστηκε η στελέχωση του ιατρείου με ικανό αριθμό προσωπικού όχι μόνο με γιατρό ειδικότητας αλλά και με το απαραίτητο βοηθητικό προσωπικό. Στόχος είναι όλοι οι κάτοικοι του νησιού να μπορούν να λαμβάνουν τις αυτονόητες υπηρεσίες υγείας στο νησί τους χωρίς να χρειάζεται να ταξιδέψουν για να έχουν την απαραίτητη πρωτοβάθμια ιατρική περίθαλψη.
Στο πλαίσιο δράσης του Δήμου Ηρωικής Νήσου Κάσου για την ενίσχυση του Π.Π. Ιατρείου προκειμένου να αναβαθμιστούν οι παρεχόμενες υπηρεσίες υγείας την Παρασκευή 17 Ιουλίου παραδόθηκαν στο Ιατρείο Κάσου μηχανήματα ιατρικών αναλύσεων μέτρησης οξυγόνου του αίματος και μηχάνημα για την μέτρηση γλυκοζυλιωμένης απαραίτητη ανάλυση για την διάγνωση και την παρακολούθηση της θεραπείας πασχόντων από σακχαρώδη διαβήτη.
Η προμήθεια και η τοποθέτηση του ιατροτεχνικού εξοπλισμού έγιναν με την χρηματοδότηση του Δήμου Η.Ν. Κάσου . Ο Δήμαρχος της Η.Ν. Κάσου Μιχάλης Ερωτόκριτος γνωρίζοντας ότι το 60 % του πληθυσμού του νησιού ανήκει σε ευπαθείς ομάδες που αντιμετωπίζουν χρόνιες ασθένειες που χρήζουν βοήθειας και συχνής περίθαλψης ανέφερε ότι « θα προβεί σε όλες τις απαραίτητες ενέργειες και θα προσφέρει κάθε δυνατή στήριξη προς το προσωπικό του ιατρείου μας ώστε μ’ αυτόν το τρόπο να μειωθούν οι μετακινήσεις των ασθενών με χρόνια νοσήματα για να μπορούν να λαμβάνουν οδηγίες από τους θεράποντες γιατρούς παραμένοντας στην Κάσο ».
