Το Σάββατο 22 Οκτωβρίου 2022, στο Ζωσιμοπούλειο θέατρο, στο Μανδράκι Νισύρου, έγινε εκδήλωση αφιερωμένη στα 100 Χρόνια από τη Μικρασιατική Καταστροφή με γενικό τίτλο: «Αχ, Πατρίδα μου Γλυκιά!». Μια συνδιοργάνωση από τις ομάδες «Ελένη», τον Πολιτιστικό Σύλλογο Παστίδας «Καμάρι», την Περιφέρεια Νοτίου Αιγαίου και το Δήμο Νισύρου, με τη συμμετοχή του Πολιτιστικού Συλλόγου Ιαλυσού «Φερενίκη», τον Πολιτιστικό Σύλλογο Έμπωνα «Ο Αττάβυρος» και της Φιλαρμονικής Ορχήστρας Καλλιθέας Ρόδου. Η ψυχή της εκδήλωσης και η οργανώτρια ήταν η Νισυριά Ελένη Κουμέντου-Μαραγκού.
Ο Δήμαρχος έκανε ιστορική αναφορά στα γεγονότα που οδήγησαν στη Μικρασιατική καταστροφή. Η μαύρη επέτειος μας καλεί σε αναστοχασμό και πρέπει να μας διδάξει για τα λάθη μας και ταυτόχρονα να μας δώσει την ευκαιρία να αντιμετωπίσουμε την έλλειψη γνώσης για το τι συνέβη, και να καταπολεμήσουμε τη λήθη, ανέφερε στην αρχή της ομιλίας του. Όπως ανέφερε ο Δήμαρχος, η εντολή των μεγάλων δυνάμεων της εποχής για απόβαση των Ελληνικών στρατευμάτων στην Μικρά Ασία, σε συνδυασμό με τις εθνοκαθάρσεις Ελλήνων και Αρμενίων από τους Τούρκους, οδήγησαν στο ξερίζωμα του Ελληνισμού από τη Μ. Ασία με ρίζες τριών χιλιετιών και όπου θεμελίωσε την επιστήμη, την φιλοσοφία και τις τέχνες. Η χρησιμοποίηση του Ελληνικού στρατού από τις μεγάλες δυνάμεις για την προώθηση των δικών τους σκοπών, που ήταν η μοιρασιά της Οθωμανικής Αυτοκρατορίας και η πρόσβαση τους στα πετρέλαια της Μοσούλης, οδήγησαν στον ξεριζωμό τριών εκατομμυρίων Ελλήνων από την πατρίδα τους.
Στη συνέχεια της εκδήλωσης με συγκίνηση και δέος παρακολουθήσαμε παραστάσεις και χορούς από τις μακρινές αλλά ποτέ λησμονημένες Πατρίδες μας! Όλοι οι συμμετέχοντες των Πολιτιστικών Συλλόγων καθώς επίσης και οι μουσικοί της Φιλαρμονικής Ορχήστρας αξίζουν τα συγχαρητήρια όλων για αυτό το άρτιο και φαντασμαγορικό θέαμα που μας πρόσφεραν. Νωρίτερα η Φιλαρμονικής Ορχήστρα Καλλιθέας Ρόδου γύρισε σε όλο τους δρόμους του οικισμού όπου με τις μουσικές τους έδωσαν μεγάλη χαρά σε όλους τους κατοίκους.
Ο Δήμος Νισύρου ευχαριστεί θερμά όλους τους συντελεστές της εκδήλωσης και ιδιαίτερα την Νισυριά Ελένη Κουμέντου-Μαραγκού, που με κάθε της εκδήλωση τιμά τη Νίσυρο, τιμά τη γη των προγόνων της.
Στα 100 χρόνια από τη Μικρασιατική Καταστροφή, ενός από τα τραγικότερα γεγονότα της ιστορίας σε επίπεδο αφανισμού λαού, οφείλουμε να τιμάμε και να θυμόμαστε πάντα εκείνους που χάθηκαν με φρικτό τρόπο στα χώματα της Μικράς Ασίας αλλά και εκείνους που ήρθαν σαν πρόσφυγες σε μία χώρα που τη θεωρούσαν Πατρίδα τους. Επειδή η ιστορία δυστυχώς πολλές φορές επαναλαμβάνεται, έχουμε το χρέος να μαθαίνουμε από αυτή για να πράττουμε σωστά στο μέλλον.
